Background
The hardware for my HTPC is still (and probably will always be) work in progress. I've been using a full size ATX architecture for 4 years now. It gives me the flexibility to play around and test a lot of setups.
Lately I have replaced my old case with a Silverstone LC10. Because I like to stay flexible PCI expansian slots are very important too me. I never was satisfied with onboard graphics and sound of the boards I have tested. So I decided to use seperate cards, see above.
I may buy a DVB-S or DVB-T card in the future to get rid of my old Grundig receiver. But until now I am not satisfied with the driver support and performance of TV in mediaportal. Also watching TV is not as important as watching DVDs to me.
I'm very satisfied with the Floppy DTV atm and it has completely replaced my Grundig receiver.
As for the software I was using Zoomplayer for long years. With girder and the capabilites of Zoomplayer you can get a lot out of it!
But the free version of Zoomplayer does not support DVD anymore. So I needed something different and finally came across MediaPortal. Wow! That was the one software I was looking for. At the moment I am using DVD, movies, picture and some other plugins.
Many thanks to the MediaPortal development team and all contributors for your great work!
Take a look at the MediaPortal Website!
